The Mount Vernon Housing Authority provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of Public Housing (Cloverleaf) and Housing Choice Voucher Programs (Section 8). These programs are income based and the eligibility guidelines are set by HUD. There are waiting lists for these rentals or vouchers due to the overwhelming need for housing assistance and at times these lists may close to new applicants based on the size of and the length of the wait on the lists.
At the Mount Vernon Housing Authority we are dedicated to providing this community with quality, affordable housing that is decent, well-maintained and free from drugs and violent crime. We endeavor to provide livable communities that are made up of a diverse range of economic incomes. We are committed to providing our participants with as many opportunities as possible to become economically self-sufficient. We shall do all of these things while serving our participants and neighboring citizens with the highest degree of professional courtesy, empathy and respect. Our goal is to manage our public housing units and Section 8 program in a manner that is consistent with good, financially sound property management practices by taking advantage of available community and government resources. We endeavor to install pride and a desire for an enhanced quality of life for our participants and their families.
